Baby Dedication

Make me to know your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths. Psalms 25:4

It was a special day, to have grandparents at Colonial Woods Missionary Church with us, to be public witness to our committment to raise Khloe to love and serve her Lord.

9 months

(Nine month well-baby appointment: 19 1/2  pounds (60%) and 29 inches (90%). Doctor Sara said you are going to be a long and lean toddler!)

Crazy how time is just flying by now, as compared to the first three months of your life. Time crawled then, but not now. Just around the corner we'll be planning your first birthday party. I don't even let myself think about it.
Your Dad and I think you are getting so big, but not your sister. She wants you to "be a kid" so badly that we often have conversations about when you'll be able to walk, be able to talk, be able to play. Already you can play a little bit with Kayla and she with you because you are less fragile than you were at, say 4 months old, but you're not yet a "kid". Kayla will "hold" you on the floor, help you stand, roll you around and just try and make you laugh. Something that we can count on is that if Kayla lingers in your personal space too long for your liking you complain to everyone in the house. You poor girls, Kayla's biggest crime is that she gives you too much love and your biggest complaint is that you get too much love. If this is the worst of it, than we're doing pretty good.

You have become an expert microscopic fuzz finding machine. You can spot a half-invisible piece of fuzz on the carpet the size of this dot . and work tiresly picking up this and all the other fuzz you can find. Your thumb and pointer finger work with such precision. The drool on your chin is a better magnet than your mouth and we often find tiny pieces of fuzz stuck to your chin or cheek, giving away what you've been up to.

Your world now includes the realization that cell phones and TV remotes exist, and you want to play with these things more than anything else in the world. Why is it that babies are drawn to these forbidden items? Is it because you know they are forbidden? We have to keep them hidden from you and if by chance you spot one of them and we move it out of sight you scream your protest.

You prefer to spend your entire day standing. You want us to hold your hands, while your little hands grasp one of our fingers, and just stand.  You smile so big the entire time. You just think standing is the greatest. The world must look so much bigger to you in this position! You don't even care about crawling. You could crawl, but instead you have put your energy into learning how to spin and pivot, army crawl and roll. With those modes of transportation you can get anywhere and get anything, so why crawl? Although just in the last two days you have finally started getting up on your knees, so crawling probably won't be too far off now.
 Love these little toes!
I was just reading something about your next well baby appointment coming up and it said that, "Babies this age are generally plump and round, with extra chins and folds in their thighs." I love this! Extra chins AND folds???!!! This describes you Khloe, and that is so, so awesome. And all those chins and rolls means that I had to dig in the clothes bins again this week to pull out the 12 months clothes.
I can eat an apple now!

{New trick}

You are so proud of your new trick - standing up all by yourself in your crib!
This is BIG stuff now, and you couldn't be happier!
Oops, momentarily distracted by the iPad. Kayla was selecting nursery rhyme songs to play for Khloe.

This is how I like to sit and play with my toys. I like my basket of toys right beside me and then I pull out each and every toy one at a time and throw them all over the place. It never gets old. This make me happy!

SPRINTER? We're not sure if it's spring or winter either. Should be winter, feels like spring. It's been a wonderfully and unusually warm winter so far. Amazingly we've actually had the stroller out for a lot of walks - and runs! - the last few weeks. Praising God for some warm exercise time outdoors to stretch our legs and get some fresh air! We hear, though, that cold air is coming, and coming fast. We'll embrace the snow too! We look foward to getting Khloe out on the sled for the first time.

Happy New Year!

We celebrated New Year's Eve with our close friends the Johnson's. We have spent many New Year's with them, and Kayla and the older girls have been together in year's past, but this was the first year for you and Sadie to join the party. You two are so cute together, we couldn't resist getting some pictures of you together since we know next time we're all together you won't be this little again. Happy New Year's to the two newest girls in the party!
